| Rattlesnake
It is Mount Jumbo and its landmark "L" that separates the Rattlesnake (west of Mount Jumbo) from East Missoula. The Rattlesnake Creek drains from the Rattlesnake Wilderness Area into the Clark Fork River. The West side of Rattlesnake features Greenough Park, one of Missoula's most beautiful and serene parks on the lower end, and the PEAS Farm, a large community garden, on the upper end. The East side of the Rattlesnake showcases the Jumbo saddle, some wide open fields and a couple of schools. You won't find rattlesnakes in this neighborhood, but you might see black bears in the spring or fall.
The lower Rattlesnake consists of nearly 20 blocks of cottages that previously served mill workers, craftsman-style homes and turn-of-the-century architecture, landing this neighborhood on the National Historic Register. In the Upper Rattlesnake, the properties are larger and more rural. These residents live on the edge of the 32,000-acre Rattlesnake Recreation and Wilderness areas.
The Median Home Price for the Rattlesnake neighborhood is $244,250. The Average Days on Market to sell a home in this neighborhood is 110 Days. (Reprinted from Make it Missoula Relocation Guide 2008-2009)
The public schools that serve the Rattlesnake area are the Rattlesnake Elementary, Washington Middle School and Hellgate High School.
